North Texas Taxpayers Deserve Better
Cities like Plano, Highland Park, Carrollton, and University Park send millions of dollars in sales tax to DART each year.
But when you look at what they get back in service and investment - it’s a fraction of what they put in.
This isn’t fair. It’s not transparent. And it’s not how local government should work.

THE PROBLEM
DART collects billions in tax revenue, but spends over 80% of its budget on operations - not improvements.
Some cities are getting back as little as 30 cents on the dollar.
Of the $285 million DART spent on capital projects in FY ‘23, only a tiny fraction - sometimes less than 0.001% - went to cities like Plano, Highland Park, University Park, Farmers Branch, and Carrollton.
Local leaders have no real say in how these dollars are spent.
The result? Taxpayers are subsidizing someone else’s ride, with little to show for it.
What texans deserve
Local Control: Communities should decide how their transportation dollars are used.
Transparency: Taxpayers deserve a clear accounting of where their money goes.
Accountability: Public agencies must deliver value, not just collect revenue.
